Best wishes for the New Year and productive Dialogues in 2013!
20 December 2012
The Dialogue Toolkit’s initial year has seen a steady growth of the project, as briefly recorded in the previous news items. This month the Coordinator took part in an Expert Meeting on “Indicators for Intercultural Dialogue in Non-formal Education Activities” which was organized by the Council of Europe, the EU and the Anna-Lindt-Foundation with the Tunisian ‘Observatoire National de la Jeunesse’. The invitation came in the wake of the Dialogue Toolkit Facilitators Workshop in October.
The Expert Meeting took place in the coastal resort town of Hammamet, which is also the location of an International Cultural Centre. The expert meeting was one of three events, which took place there simultaneously, and a cultural evening brought together the participants of all three activities.
At the World Forum for Democracy, also in October, a Tunisian delegate expressed interest for the Dialogue Toolkit. Therefore some time was set aside after the Expert Meeting in Tunis in order to start a needs assessment. Meetings were arranged with a young Analyst and online journalist; with a victim under the previous regime, then refugee abroad for several years, witness, and now returnee; with the Minister for Human Rights and Transitional Justice and with the President of the Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy.
Finally, some news about the Project management: The French and Russian versions of the Dialogue Toolkit are about to be laid out in preparation for modest print runs. So, please watch this space for the on-line versions of the French and Russian Dialogue Toolkit. With best wishes for the upcoming year!
